Jacques Camus
"l'école de Paris"
Einar Moos
In his local, Jacques Camus is waiting for rain. Rain is an inspiration; he waits for the light glistening in puddles reflecting the walls and roofs of his quartier Mouffetard. He waits for inspiration to put the finishing touches on a painting he has been working on for a couple of weeks. Jacques Camus has a small blue atelier on 12 rue des Patriarches facing the morning sun during the day, and the street's name fits him well: he's a kind of patriarch.

Jacques Camus
He's been painting "l'école de Paris" since he came out of school. He's been painting next to Belloni, was shown avenue Matignon, but has followed his line of painting never interested in the art market; he's remained devoted to his early conviction of naive poetic realism; there is more to it than the picture can tell - it grows on you. It is the result of waiting for rain, for light and color that only the split second in Paris can provide, and producing through painting an image of the popular neighborhood of rue Mouffetard - an image of immortality.

Paintings can be purchased with or without frames. His paintings are for sale - his auction prices can be found on -
